考试当中，第三个部分之后，有一个十分钟的休息。其他的各个部门之间，只有一分钟的休息。考生可以利用休息的时间，把他们的草稿纸准备好，或者上个洗手间，这都是休息的当中进行的。有的时候考生可以自己选择休息，但是他们的时钟计时不会停止，如果考生自己打算休息，等于考试的时间就被剥夺掉了，我们认为这不是一个好主意，最好按照我们的时间安排进行休息。
我们看一下考试的部分。首先是写作部分，最主要评价的是学生的批判性思维和他的分析写作能力。我提到有两个任务，一个是要分析一个问题，考生被要求就这个问题提出他们的想法。我们还希望他们能够就此提出自己的想法来，还有一部分，要分析一个论点，这里考生就被要求去分析这个论点之后，提出是否赞成这个论点，再利用自己的写作来捍卫这个论点。
所有的写作都被要求是用计算机输入打在考试当中，我们提供的写作界面，包括一些最基本的功能。比方说插入、删除等等，我们在这里并没有专门提供word软件，我们想要公平，不会说因为word用的好就有一些优势。
在世界还有一些地方是进行笔考的，我们希望机考的考生不会因为使用计算机机考而获得某些优势，也因此我们在这只提供最基本的功能。接下来再看语文部分。
这里主要是考察大家的阅读理解能力和他们的推理能力，分析和推理能力。我们有一些问题的类型，考题的类型。这些考题的类型在我们备考材料当中全部展现给大家，大家如果感兴趣可以去我们的网站或者备考材料当中看到。我们有一些具体的问题类型，一个是传统的单选题，给你好几个选项，考生选择最好的一个答案。我们还有多选，要求考生选择一甚至是更多的答案。我们还有断中点读的提醒，考生被要求在文中的段落当中加量某一句话来回答这道题，这是阅读理解部分。
我们还有文本填空部分，有一句话，其中有两三个空白之处，有一些词供大家选择，考生要选择正确的词填入里面。这句话有三个空白，考生就应该选出三个词来填进去，使得这句话是正确和完整的。还有同意句的选择，挑选出相同意思的句子。
这是一个衡量考生是否能够定量的分析一个问题，选用算术、代数、几何和数据分析的方法来解决问题，这些内容都是高中数学当中应该都已经交过的。有比较题，考生来分析哪一个值更大，另外我们还有两种类型的选择题，单选和多选，和语文当中一样。还有数字输入的提醒，做完了之后由考生把最后的数值填进去，不是考生去选，而是运送出来。大家看到的计算器，就是我们在考试的时候提供在界面上的计算器。在推理部分给考生提供这样的计算器，考生不可以自己带计算器进入考场。
语文部分和数学部分，它都是硬性的，大家听说过这种说法，所谓自适应的考题根据考生展现出来的能力相应的调整，所给出的题。我们是以部分为单位来进行适应性的给题，我们考试当中的第二部分的题是基于考生在第一部分的题当中的表现来给出的。
语文内部或者数学内部，每一道题是值一分，每道题的权重是一样的。我们还是按照每道题，答对一题得一分，他不光要看获得正确答案的题，我们也会在这里面可以把考题的难度，也加进去，所以每道题答案对了得一分，如果没有答或者答错也不会扣分。
新GRE考试
新GRE考试从2011年8月1日开始实行，实行全部机考，间隔21天可以再考;提交考卷即可得到相应的新GRE成绩估值，考试之后10天~15天内可出官方最终成绩。

Ø 两个写作之间休息时间为1分钟。
Ø 考试系统不允许考生用超过30分钟的时间完成Issue，也不允许考生用超过30分钟的时间完成Argument。
Ø 考试时，一旦开始第二个写作，将无法再返回第一个任务，但如果第一个任务完成得较早，可以马上开始第二个任务。
评分
Ø 每篇文章两位评分人，满分6分，如果两位评分人分数差异超过1分，将会由第三位评分人对成绩进行评定;若没超过1分，则这篇文章最终取两个分数的平均值(分数，0.5分为最小分数段)
Ø ETS保留取消分数的权力(ETS论文相似性检测软件)如果发现以下几种情况就会视为雷同，判为0分
